How Your Volunteer Program Fee is Applied
While it may seem surprising to be asked to pay to volunteer, the Volunteer Program fee provides direct support for sustainable development efforts in rural communities and offsets the costs associated with providing volunteers with meals, accommodations, escorted transportation, personalized preparation, and on-going support after returning home.
- Volunteer Meals, Accommodations, In-Country Transportation and Supervision. The communities we work with have limited resources and are unable to support the costs for hosting volunteers. Your Volunteer Program fee is allocated to the following:
- your escorted ground transportation to and from
the airport
- your escorted ground transportation to and from
one village placement
- your meals and accommodations
- your care and supervision by the leaders
of the partner organization with which you are volunteering
- supporting the programs of the partner
organization with which you are volunteering
- Support for Volunteers and Partner
Organizations. The remainder of your Volunteer Program
fee enables the Village Volunteers staff to not only provide
personalized support for volunteers, but to also help foster
sustainable development in the communities of our partner
organizations by:
- developing, managing and raising funds
for our clean water initiative
- facilitating donations and fundraising
events
- managing orphan support and educational
sponsorships
- funding community development workshops
- providing grant writing and review services
- providing access to an advisory board
of experts
Our Volunteer Program differs from many others in that your fee will not only cover the costs associated with your care, but it will also help create economic sustainability and community development.

"I already miss the happy faces that became such an important and inspiring part of my life but thank them for touching me with their love, courage, and grace. They will remain forever special, always in my heart and never off my mind."
