Sometimes you just want to say things out loud – like how much we appreciate working with some incredibly plucky, heroic local leaders and visionaries, how rewarding it is to receive a genuine thank-you from a volunteer who had a life changing experience in Kenya or Nepal, how crazy we were to take-on bold and impacting projects, how frustrating it is to raise money in an increasingly competitive philanthropic market, how hard it is for a small, largely volunteer-run non-profit to stay afloat some days …

So we’ve decided to lease a nook on the web where any one of us connected to the larger Village Volunteers community – staff, volunteers, program directors – can ramble a little about what’s on our mind and what we are working on. When at one point we were thinking of blogging, we thought maybe we’d give our projects some time to yield, for partnerships to strengthen, for the organization to mature and have a history of substantial impact. We’re at the stage now where we’re ideologically affirmed in our work – our commitment to supporting sustainable, locally conceived and thriving solutions to community problems is undeterred. And perhaps we’re old enough and experienced enough to indulge in sharing our opinion.

So here we are, reader. Stay tuned to this blog if you want to know a little more about what Village Volunteers stands for, what projects we’ve undertaken, who we partner with, and what spectacular experiences our volunteer opportunities offer.  Learn more about the trials and successes of some exceptionally dedicated on-field local organizations in Kenya, Ghana, Malawi, India and Nepal that are truly making a difference in the lives of innumerable people.

Stay tuned for sure.
